Student Comment's:

Virginia Britton is the answer to the prayers of every young ballerina's parents.  Virginia offers an authentic disciplined
technique class, geared to the young child with focus on body form and musical expression.  Rather than a semester repeating
a sequence of dance moves, culminating in a loud and expensively costumed production or dance competition; each class
actually builds the repertoire of dance skills necessary for true progression in the art.  Not only technically proficient on the
stage, Virginia offers an amazing ability to work with children of all ages as well as interface with parents.  It has been a joy
to have a teacher who teaches classical ballet in an age appropriate manner and a young daughter who is a true budding
ballerina.  No glitz, no glam, no toddlers in tiaras.  Just little buns on little heads with little slippers on little feet winging
flight to the sounds of Copeland, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin.

The Alexandria ballet has been an excellent school for and adult student like myself to study ballet. Virginia Britton's strong
emphasis on alignment and center, along with her encouraging approach builds a very solid basis for your body and ballet
dancing. I have been injury free from taking dance class mainly due to Ms. Britton's therapeutic style of teaching- she only
encourages what your body is currently capable of and allows your technique to grow with time. In addition, taking ballet
class with Virginia Britton has been the most enjoyable after-work activity that I have ever had in my life! Please don't miss
out on this opportunity to also have this in your life to exercise for your health and dance for your soul!

The Alexandria Ballet has been my home for the past thirteen years.  Ms. Virginia has formed me as a dancer and she is
responsible for all the amazing experiences I have had.
Ms. Virginia creates a fun and healthy environment for the study of ballet.  Her emphasis on proper alignment and clean
technique promotes healthy, strong dancers.  She has made me a smart dancer because I know about proper alignment.  This
is key to my success as a dancer.  Her attention to detail in technique makes each student prepared to work with different
choreographers and in different dance styles.  Good ballet technique is important to most other forms of dance.
Ms. Virginia is very supportive and encouraging during class and this helps students to enjoy learning ballet.  Ms. Virginia
has always challenged me to grow.  I have always loved being a student at the Alexandria Ballet.  She truly cares for each
one of her students and makes each one feel welcome.  I am now a third year at the University of Virginia and every chance I
get I come back to take class with Ms. Virginia.
I have received excellent performance experience through the annual school recital, the Company’s Nutcracker productions,
and two ballets written and choreographed by Ms. Virginia, The Boy and the Bull and The Easter Bunny’s Apprentice.
Ms. Virginia’s direction helped me to attend the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C.’s Summer Intensive program in 2003.
This was a big honor for me and gave me insight into the professional ballet world.  Ms. Virginia encourages her students to
attend summer sessions at large institutions.  She stresses that it is important to learn from different teachers.
Ms. Virginia also helped me to prepare for my audition to the Virginia Governor’s School Visual and Performing Arts Dance
Program.  I was selected and attended the Governor’s School over the summer of 2006.
I have assisted Ms. Virginia in the Pre-ballet camps that occur over the summer.  These camps are exceptional for their
individual attention to each child and for their foundation in many aspects of ballet.  The camps complement skills children
learn in the academic classroom during the school year.
Ms. Virginia is an exceptional teacher who is focused on the growth of each student.  She is a terrific teacher for all ages.
