1990 - Present
  • Artistic Director of The Alexandria Ballet, company founder, owner, choreographer, coach repeteur and stage
    manager.
  • Director of the School of The Alexandria Ballet, founder, owner, teacher, teacher trainer, syllabus designer of
    classical ballet program.
  • Director and fund raiser for Summer Ballet and Fine Arts Outreach Program for Jefferson Houston
    Elementary School in Alexandria.

1985 - 1990
  • Taught in my own studio The Britton System for three years in Mount Vernon area, taught ballet for CODA -
    The Contemporary Dancers of Alexandria.
  • Taught ballet and exercise for The Center Club, and The Old Town Athletic Club

1980’s
  • Danced with Leap Forward (a modern ballet dance company) in San Francisco and taught at The Pacific Ballet.
  • Taught at Dance Arts Studio in San Rafael, California.
  • Designed an alignment based stretch and exercise program, trained over 150 instructors in the program, and
    operated a stretch aerobics company with various rented locations for 7 years.
  • Danced with the Chicago Ballet, trained with Maria Tallchief at The Lyric Opera Ballet of Chicago.  Taught
    for the Lenhoff School of Music and Dance.

1976-1979
  • On full scholarship with David Howard, in New York and danced with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet
  • Appeared with guest companies at the Met such as, The Stuttgart Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and The
    National Ballet of Canada.
  • Studied floor barre with Zena Rommett and the works of Raul Gelebert.  Studied ballet with Maggie Black.

1972-1976
  • Danced full time with the Panama National Ballet, a mostly Russian trained and directed company, sponsored
    by Dame Margot Fonteyn.  
  • Trained and coached by Nicolai Morosov and Luidmila Morkovina of the Kirov Ballet.  Performed major
    classical ballets as well as contemporary works.
  • Trained with Ginela Vasquez in Royal Academy of Dancing, RAD technique.
  • Taught exercise on Panamanian talk show on television.  Fluent in Spanish.
  • Acted in Pan Am commercial filmed in Las Perlas Islands.

Before 1972
  • Trained at The Washington School of The Ballet with Sally Schmertz, Hedi Pope in Alexandria, and Eugene
    Collins.

Other Studies in Dance
  • Studied three years of Modern dance with teachers using various techniques including Graham, Limon,
    Horton, and Cunningham.  Studied one year of Spanish Dance.  Studied various alignment techniques.

Education
  • B.A. Liberal Studies from The University of the State of New York.
